Sep 22, 2020. Superb fast on torrent downloads! How is it possible? I'm using uTorrent for many years, but today I downloaded a tutorial with FDM with maximum speed of my net 128kb/s while uTorrent was around 25kb/s barely. I don't know what is the problem with uTorrent on my machine but for now I'm more happy and thankful with FDM. C is the best.
Torrent is the best way if you are downloading a big file that sizes more than a GB. There are many torrent client available only but most of us rely on famous uTorrent. Our users have asked us about how we can get the maximum download speed even on slow connections. Well, the simple thing says that the download speed depends on the connection speed but some time few torrents can give very low download speed. You will need to optimize few settings on uTorrent default installation to get the maximum download speed out of every torrent you set to download.
How to Tweak uTorrent Settings to get maximum download speed out of Torrent:
Just Open your Torrent and Follow the Steps Below:
Step 1: First of all, open your uTorrent.
Step 2: Now, go to “Options > Preference”.
Step 3: Next, go to “Connection” and do the following settings (as shown in the picture below)
Step 4: Now, go to “Bandwidth” and do the following (as shown in the picture below)
Step 5: Next, go to “Bittorrent” and do the following (as shown n the picture below)
Boost Utorrent Download Speed
Step 6: Now, go to “Queueing” and do the following (as shown in the picture below)
Step 7: Next, click on “Advanced” and do the following (as shown in the picture below)
Step 8: Lastly, set the “Bandwidth High” before you are downloading any file.
How to Increase Torrent Download Speed:
Step 1: You should choose the best torrent client like: Bit Torrent, Bit Comet, and uTorrent, etc.
By choosing the best torrent client allows you to download a file in maximum speed. There are many torrent clients available in market, just go for the best.
Step 2: You should choose torrent with good trackers, peers and seeds.
Choosing the right torrent will allow to download your required file easily and fastly. If you choose a weak torrent that has less number of tracker, seeds and peers then it is you may not get fast downloading speed. Always download a torrent which has at least one seeds. Trackers are too important factor which should be cared for before choosing a torrent file. Check the properties of your torrent that you can find in the list of trackers. If a particular torrent has weak seeds and peers then you can re-announce the same to increase its speed.
Step 3: You should change the settings of your torrent client.
How To Increase Utorrent Download Speed
Just change the settings of your torrent client, so that the downloading speed could be increased. To do so, change few settings like “Bandwidth”, port is also helpful in increasing the torrent downloading speed.
Step 4: You can also download a torrent from downloading manager software like: DAP, IDM, and Orbit, etc.
As you all know that torrent clients use the torrent protocol which is peer-to-peer files sharing protocol to download any file. Even the P2P protocol is best among all others to download any file but some times downloading a file using other protocol can help increasing the download speed.
Step 5: You can increase the number of Max Half Open TCP connections.
The Max Half Open TCP connections specify that how many connections a torrent client should attempt to establish simultaneously at any given time. Operating Systems like Windows XP-SP2and newer, limits this to a default of 10.As torrents need a large number of simultaneous connections you can increase your torrent downloading speed by changing this figure.
A patch has been available for a while from LvlLord which modifies the TCPIP.sys file in Windows to allow a higher number of TCP connections.
After running the patch, you have to change your torrent client settings also. In uTorrent go to:
“Options > Preferences > Advanced > net.max_halfopen.
Set any numbers from 50 to 100, don’t use more than that, as specified. Also keep checking “TCPIP.sys” for cross verifying the number of Max Half Open TCP connections.

Important: You must understand that you cannot get more downloading speed than your bandwidth [max internet speed]. So, this tutorial can just optimize your downloads to the best speed provided by your Internet service provider.

Many uTorrent 3.x users noticed either a decrease in the download speed, or the fact that the files were not downloaded at all, while there are seeds on the distribution and the file just can not be downloaded and, moreover, everything worked fine before. The situation looks something like this, the newly added file looks for peers and even if it finds their download speed is extremely low.
What to Do When Facing the uTorrent Slow Download Speed?
It’s no wonder that there are a lot of questions regarding the slow loading of torrent files in uTorrent. In this article we have compiled the most popular problems, which cause slow speed files downloading. Information is useful to everyone who uses torrents.
Low Storage PerformanceUtorrent Download Speed Increase
The main reason for the slow download speed is a slow hard disk or incorrect uTorrent settings due to which the hard disk is overloaded with read/write operations that catastrophically affects the performance. If you download torrents, but the speed is very slow, open uTorrent client settings and in the caching option (Preferences -> Advanced -> Disk Cache) set the following options:
Cache size – you should not specify a very large cache size, it is recommended to specify not more than 3-5% of RAM or 100-200 megabytes. In case of problems, the cache will not be discarded and the downloaded file will most likely be corrupted, you can recalculate the hash of the distribution and download the missing one. The cache value depends on the speed of your Internet connection, the higher it is the more cache it will take. The standard value of 32 megabytes is suitable for not very high-speed channels of 10-30 megabits, for a 100 megabit channel you can set a value of 100-200 megabytes (sometimes even more) and experimentally select the optimal value.
Also, disable the following options:
Number of Seeds
This is the most common problem and it arises from a simple misunderstanding. Many users do not pay attention on how many people distribute the file and how many times it was downloaded. Some torrent trackers usually indicate the number of “distributors” – seeds, and the number of loaders – peers. Downloading does not affect anything, but distributors help you to download the file as quickly as possible and the more of them, the sooner the download will finish. Naturally, if the distributors are very few (1-2 people) – then the download speed, as a rule, should be lower than in case with the torrent which is distributed by 100 people.
Check the Real Speed of Your Internet Connection
Most often, the problem of slow downloads is that the real speed of the Internet is different from your tariff rate. Check the speed of your Internet connection using any online service (https://fast.com, https://speedtest.telstra.com/, https://www.verizon.com/speedtest/).
uTorrent Setup Guide
The first thing to do is to launch the uTorrent Setup Guide. It will help you to set the correct basic parameters for your network and system. To start it, in top menu select Option -> Setup Guide or simply press a keyboard shortcut Ctrl + G. Run tests and wait for the test to finish. Then, save the settings that the test tool has recommend you.
uTorrent Upload/Download Speed Settings
Now go to the uTorrent settings and switch to Bandwidth section. Here you can set limits on the maximum speed of upload and download (in the screenshot below, these restrictions are sets, i.e. for example, the download speed will not be higher than 5000 kB/s). Remove the speed limits by setting the values in the Maximum upload/download rate fields to 0.
Tip. Set the bandwidth limit is necessary in certain situations: if you are creating a large load on the hard drive, if at a high speed the connection breaks, if your Internet channel is split between several PCs, if you need to restrict the use of the network uTorrent.
In the program settings in the BitTorrent tab there is one important setting that significantly affects (in some cases) the download speed. It is recommended to uncheck Limit local peer bandwidth.
If torrents still can not be downloaded, then the most correct solution is to install an outdated but stable and tested version – uTorrent 1.8.2, which is recommended on many large trackers in the event of any problems. It is recommended that you uninstall the previous version before.
